Mirios is an exciting technology start-up developing innovative integrated mid- and long-wave infrared photonics technologies for commercial, space, and defense sectors. Part of the UCSB CNSI Technology Incubator, Mirios is located on UC Santa Barbara's campus, a five-minute walk from the beach. Process Development Engineer

Full-time position located in Santa Barbara, CA. You will be developing processes and building integrated photonic devices in the UCSB Nanofabrication Facility as part of a small nanofabrication team.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate compound semiconductor devices in the UCSB Nanofabrication Facility
  • Develop and optimize new fabrication processes
  • Document and report processing activities
  • Work independently or in a fabrication team
  • Coordinate with photonics design engineers to plan and prepare process flows
  • Train future fabrication personnel

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in engineering, physics, or relevant field (pay and responsibilities commensurate with experience)
  • Experience in a nanofabrication processing environment
  • Background working with group IV or III-V semiconductors
  • Familiarity with cleanroom work environment and procedures
  • Proficiency with semiconductor fabrication tools and techniques, including photolithography, plasma etching, deposition, and wet chemistry
  • Experience with photonic devices is a plus
